About The Educational Engineer

· 181 words · 1 minute read

I’m Sarah Clark and I’ve been a trainer and engineer my whole career, earning a Masters in Education along the way. My audience has been other engineers and technical sales at Apple, General Magic, HP, Google, multiple startups, etc. This has allowed me to experiment with new approaches such as building simulations and Serious Games, and be an early adopter of xAPI and Machine Learning.

Now it’s time to share what I’ve learned with you.

What can you expect to see here? I’ll be sharing my experiences and experiments with:

  • Using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning We’ll go beyond using AI tools to generate content. These tools can be used to make education more personalized and effective.
  • Developing effective simulations and Serious Games You may be familiar with “branching” simulations (aka “choose your own adventure”). There’s a world of other interactive approaches that are possible with the right tools and approach.
  • Practical Learning Science Understanding the learning science is important when designing for these advanced tools. We’ll make the science clear with concrete examples that you can try for yourself.
